New JIMCO Life Sciences Fund underlines Jameel Family commitment to breakthrough science, disruptive models of healthcare, & accelerating access to modern medicine for those who need it most.

As the world continues to recover from the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, a new investment fund has been launched to accelerate access to modern medical care for those most in need. 

The Abdul Latif Jameel Investment Management Company (JIMCO) is a new venture investment business consolidating the work of three generations in purposeful investing from one of the Middle East’s most renowned and respected privately owned diversified family businesses and global philanthropies.

The JIMCO Life Sciences Fund, one of three major fund silos, has been established specifically to invest in innovation for a healthier world.

Working closing with Abdul Latif Jameel Health in realizing the ambition of accelerating access to healthcare for those who need it most, the JIMCO Life Sciences Fund invests in the future of health-tech, thoughtfully selecting both venture fund investments and pioneering early stage businesses.

Together, they are focused on delivering real-world tangible solutions to meet the rising health demand for modern medical care and drive great global health inclusivity, particularly for the ‘global south’.

 

The rapid innovation cycle in global health technology, guides the JIMCO Life Sciences Fund investment focus areas, with prioritization on digital health and AI, pharmaceuticals and therapeutics, advanced medical devices and techniques, diagnostics, genomics, regenerative medicine and animal health.

Emerging technologies and innovative business models in these areas present significant opportunities for sustainable growth and meaningful societal benefit for underserved populations.

Continuing the Jameel Family’s philanthropic approach that co-founded the Jameel Clinic at MIT co-founded the Abdul Latif Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health (Jameel Clinic) in September 2018 – which has rapidly become the very epicenter of AI and healthcare at MIT – and the Abdul Latif Jameel Institute for Disease and Emergency Analytics (Jameel Institute) co-founded with Imperial College London, in October 2019, using novel data analytics to reduce global risk of preventable disease most recently including the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and strengthening health systems in the most fragile settings.
