Verne

Since 2019, Verne has worked on deploying autonomous ride-hailing in complex urban environments through operations, integration, regulatory enablement, and passenger experience.  The Verne goal is simple: make autonomous mobility reliable, useful, and part of everyday life.

Autonomous mobility should simply work.  Verne is a new layer of urban mobility in Europe.  The company is named after Jules Verne (1828–1905), pioneering French novelist, widely celebrated as the ‘father of science fiction’, who imagined journeys enabled by technologies before they existed.

Today, Verne is making autonomous ride hailing part of everyday life.  The company is the first to launch a commercial robotaxi service in Europe, open to the public, designed to operate safely, consistently, and at scale.

Verne’s starting point is simple: urban transport is fragmented and dependent on human variability.  Autonomy reduces risk, increases consistency, and improves reliability.  For users, this means fewer frictions and a higher standard of comfort.  For cities, it means a more efficient and predictable system.  Verne focuses as much on how it works as on how it feels to use.

Co-founded by Marko Pejković, CEO, Adriano Mudri, CDO, and Mate Rimac, Chairman, the leaders work together to design how autonomy works and how it feels, always keeping the human being in mind.

In April 2024, the JIMCO Technology Fund participated in the US$ 100 million Series A funding round which was used for the delivery of Verne’s urban autonomous mobility ecosystem, and further growth and expansion of the team.

Verne is Europe’s first commercial robotaxi service, bringing autonomous ride-hailing to real city streets, starting in Zagreb, Croatia.  Named after Jules Verne, who imagined journeys powered by technologies long before they existed, Verne is building the operational layer for autonomous mobility in Europe and beyond.
