Rivian Electric Vehicles
RIVIAN is an innovative American electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology company and has developed and vertically integrated a connected electric platform that can be flexibly applied to a range of applications, including the company’s adventure products as well as B2B products such as the Amazon last mile delivery vans.
RIVIAN is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever; believing there is a more responsible way to explore the planet and so are determined to make the transition to sustainable transportation an exciting one.
They have designed their emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles to challenge what’s possible. RIVIAN’s launch products, the R1T and R1S, provide an unmatched combination of performance, off-road capability and utility. These vehicles will be produced at the Company’s manufacturing plant in Normal, Illinois, with customer deliveries expected to begin in fall 2021.
Founded in 2009 by entrepreneur RJ Scaringe, the company develops and produces electric vehicles, products and services solutions related to sustainable transportation and is dispelling many of the myths about electric vehicles with their adventurous and collaborative approach to the sector.
Sharing its vision for more sustainable mobility solutions, the Jameel Family became enthusiastic early-stage investors in RIVIAN. Other significant investors include, Sumitomo Corporation, Amazon, Ford Motor Company, Cox Automotive and TS Rowe.
Based in Irvine, California, which is home to vehicle engineering and design, electronics, software, propulsion, battery systems, supply chain and logistics, IT, as well teams operating their customer facing platforms, RIVIAN has said it is designing its vehicles to facilitate “car-sharing” with their autonomous features.
RIVIAN’s manufacturing plant is located in Normal, Illinois. Here, they are building the R1T and R1S products as well as commercial vans. Other facilities include Plymouth, Michigan; Palo Alto, California; Wittman Arizona; Vancouver, British Columbia and Woking in the United Kingdom.
Investments in RIVIAN are held in a separate dedicated investment vehicle for US-based investments.
