Lean Technologies, co-founded by Hisham Al-Falih, Aditya Sarkar, and Ashu Gupta in 2019, is a Riyadh-based B2B fintech platform that builds developer-friendly APIs.
Lean makes it easy for developers in financial services institutions to connect to their users’ bank accounts so they can focus on the true value they want to give to their users. Lean makes sure that the connection to the bank is useful, reliable and above all, secure. Lean achieves this by directly integrating with financial institutions own IT and providing them with a state-of-the-art API integration layer to complement their existing infrastructure.
Lean’s technology offers full transparency, oversight, and control over the data being shared by financial institutions’ customers, whilst also achieving full Open Banking compliance – the result, creative fintechs are able to integrate with a multitude of financial services providers across the region through a single platform – the Lean Universal API.
This enables these financial services companies to focus on what matters most: their customers.
Lean is in the process of going live with several banks in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and expanding to the UAE, Kuwait, and Egypt, with an ambition to be operational in most countries in the Middle East by the end of 2021.
The team is impact-driven entrepreneurs and technologists on a mission to enable the next generation of financial innovation in the Middle East aligned to their vision of driving greater financial inclusivity across the region.
Financial inclusivity as just one facet of helping to alleviate poverty and social exclusion is a cause shared by the Jameel Family, and in 2021, the JIMCO Technology Fund backed Lean, in a pre-series A extension.
Hisham Al-Falih
A mechanical engineering graduate from Stanford, a Mayfield Fellow, and serial investor, Hisham Al-Falih is Co-Founder and CEO of Lean Technologies who are enabling companies in the financial services sector to build and launch cutting-edge financial products using Lean’s innovative, simple and secure API platform.
